We’ve delved into the top 20 women in finance already, but what impact are intelligent, forward-thinking females having on fintech advancements such as blockchain? A big one, that’s what! Make no doubt about it, women have been contributing to the tech revolution for years with the likes of Katherine Johnson (who performed the trajectory analysis of the first human spaceflight) and Radia Perlman (who created the algorithm behind the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) – a significant advancement for network technology) being two powerful figures recognised for their efforts.

The emergence of cryptocurrencies and the need for digital transactions has given women fresh opportunities to shine and continue the work of their predecessors. So with this in mind – here are our top 20 women in blockchain.

3. Laura Shin @laurashin

As a crypto/blockchain journalist who has contributed to top publications such as Forbes, Laura Shin knows her stuff. She hosts two podcasts Unchained and Unconfirmed which give a deeper insight into the world of both crypto and blockchain technology.

4. Kathryn Haun @katie_haun

As a Professor of Blockchain at Georgetown and the Founder and President of the Chamber of Digital Commerce, Perianne Boring is a well-known figure within the fintech world.

8. Elizabeth Stark @starkness

Elizabeth Stark is the Co-Founder of Lightening Labs which utilises blockchain technology to provide smart transactions across the globe. She was a former Professor at Stamford and Yale educating her students about the power of peer-to-peer technology.

9. Julie Albright @drjuliea

13. Iliana Oris Valiente @IlianaOV

14. Crystal Rose @crystalrose

Our women in blockchain list wouldn’t be complete without Crystal. She’s the co-founder and CEO of Sensay, an artificial intelligence-powered platform for chatbots that allows anyone to anonymously ask experts questions.

15. Alakanani Itireleng @bitcoinlady

On a mission to bring bitcoin and blockchain technology awareness to Botswana, Alakanani is one of a few crypto pioneers in Africa and is definitely one of the women in blockchain who deserves a mention.

She’s an official member of the Forbes Technology Council and is currently the Senior Strategy Advisor for Nuggets – an e-commerce payments and ID platform which stores personal and payment data securely in the blockchain.
